Stay@Gouwzee — holiday apartment in the historic centre of Monnickendam

Stay@Gouwzee is a self-contained holiday apartment of 51 m² in the historic centre of Monnickendam, in Waterland just north of Amsterdam. It sleeps up to 4 guests and has a private kitchen, a private bathroom with separate toilet and its own roof terrace.

You stay entirely on your own: no shared spaces, no reception. Step outside and you are in the old town centre, at the harbour and on the edge of the Waterland countryside.

The apartment measures 51 m² and is suitable for up to 4 guests. There is a double boxspring bed, and two single beds on the mezzanine. The mezzanine is reached by a ladder, which can be removed if you do not use it.

You also have a private kitchen, a private bathroom with rain shower and double washbasin, a separate toilet and your own roof terrace. Everything is yours alone during your stay, so you can plan your days exactly as you like.

Monnickendam is a historic harbour town on the Gouwzee, with monumental facades, small shopping streets and a harbour full of boats. Beyond the centre Waterland begins: meadows, dykes, waterways and villages such as Broek in Waterland and Zuiderwoude.

Cycling, walking and boating start right at the door, and Volendam, Marken and Edam combine easily with your stay.

Stay@Gouwzee is not in Amsterdam. Monnickendam lies north of the city, which makes it easy to combine a stay in Waterland with a day in Amsterdam.

You sleep in the calm of a historic town and visit the city whenever you feel like it.

Stay@Gouwzee can be reached by car and by public transport. Because parking rules and travel options change, we keep all practical information up to date in one place.

Waterland is at its best seen from the water. During your stay you can separately rent the Black Pearl, our sloop moored in Monnickendam. You sail out of the harbour yourself, onto the Gouwzee or through the waterways of Waterland.
